Cranks but will not start
Intermittent no-start, stalling or repeated failed attempts: we investigate the starting conditions and the relevant supply, control and sensor signals.
UK time. Postal service and mobile visits by arrangement. Parts drop-off by prior arrangement. Contact us before visiting.

Warning lights, an intermittent non-start or a module that will not communicate? We investigate the vehicle and its circuits before recommending parts. For drivers and independent garages in Mansfield and the surrounding area.
We agree the initial diagnostic scope and price before work starts.

START WITH THE SYMPTOM
Intermittent no-start, stalling or repeated failed attempts: we investigate the starting conditions and the relevant supply, control and sensor signals.
A code such as P0299 is a starting point. We can check live data and the relevant control circuits before assuming a turbocharger or ECU is faulty.
Battery state, voltage drop, earth connections, starter and charging behaviour are checked as appropriate to the vehicle.
A module with no communication may have a supply, earth, wiring or network fault. We use targeted electrical checks to narrow the cause.
Tell us whether it happens cold, hot, in rain, after a long park or while driving. Reproducing the conditions helps focus the investigation.
Send your findings and part numbers. We can discuss a second opinion, agreed checks or a suitable module assessment.
A clear process
Send the registration or VIN, the symptoms, when they happen and any fault codes or previous repairs.
We confirm the initial diagnostic scope, location, availability and charge before work starts. Let us know if the vehicle cannot be driven.
Depending on the fault we may use a scan tool, a multimeter and PicoScope to check live data, voltage drops, power, earths, wiring and relevant signals.
We explain what was checked, what the results mean and any remaining uncertainty. Further tests, parts or repairs are quoted and require your approval.
P0562 indicates a low system voltage reading; it does not prove the battery is faulty. The battery, supply, earth and charging circuit may all need checking.
A lost-communication code such as U0155 can involve supply, earth, wiring, connectors or the module. The relevant circuit has to be measured.
PicoScope can display changing signals over time. Depending on the job this helps investigate supply interruptions, sensor signals or network waveforms that a simple voltage reading may miss.
A fault may not appear during the initial assessment. We record what was observed and discuss additional testing before doing further chargeable work.
Vehicle-side checks can identify a wiring or power issue before a module is removed. If bench assessment is appropriate, we discuss its scope and limitations separately.
No. Codes tell us what a control unit detected. Live data and targeted measurements help establish why it happened.
We agree the first stage and its price in advance. If the fault needs further work, we explain the options and seek your approval before continuing.
Contact us with the postcode, vehicle and fault. We confirm whether a mobile appointment is suitable and available.
Not always. Intermittent faults, access issues and faults in other systems can require more investigation. We explain the findings and next steps.
Not necessarily. Supply, earth and wiring checks on the vehicle may be needed first. Send us the fault codes and part number and we will discuss the right route.
Tell us the vehicle, warning messages, fault codes and previous work. We will discuss the appropriate first checks, availability and initial charge before booking.
