Service overview

Professional repair, testing and return.

Price and payment

Price on request. Steering modules differ a lot between makes and the repair often involves the motor power stage, so we quote after we see the part number and fault codes. Send us a photo of the label and the codes on WhatsApp or through the repair request form. Nothing is charged until you accept the quote.

Every repair includes diagnosis, final test, report and tracked UK return. If the unit cannot be repaired, you pay only the £45 diagnostic assessment. No VAT added – we are not VAT registered. Prices and terms · 12-month warranty.

UK postal repair for electronic power steering control modules. When the module fails, steering assistance is lost or limited and a steering warning appears.

Common symptoms

  • Steering heavy with a power steering warning
  • Assistance cutting in and out
  • No communication with the steering module
  • Faults after a low battery or jump start

Check supply and sensors first

The EPS draws high current – battery condition, main fuses and earths matter. Torque and angle sensor faults can also cause warnings. A bench test confirms module faults.

Common fault codes

Code Meaning (generic)
U0131 Lost communication with power steering control module

What happens on the bench

  1. Intake – photos, job number, condition, signs of water or previous repair.
  2. Identification – part number, hardware and software versions.
  3. Data backup – memory read and saved before work where the unit allows it.
  4. Fault confirmation – supply, motor driver stage and communication are checked.
  5. Repair – the confirmed fault is repaired and checked.
  6. Final test and report – pass, partial or fail, with test limits stated.

How to send your unit

  1. Order the repair and enter the unit details – part number, registration and fault codes.
  2. Remove the module with the battery disconnected and note the part number from the label.
  3. Pack it in an anti-static bag with padding (packing instructions) and write the order number on the box.
  4. Post it with tracking or book a collection quotation.
  5. Request a progress update using your order or TTR reference by email or WhatsApp. Return transport arrangements are confirmed in your quotation.

FAQ

Will the module need coding after refitting?

Your original unit is returned, so in most cases its coding stays in place. Any in-vehicle steps needed (for example a basic setting or calibration) are stated in the report.

Will the steering angle need calibrating?

Many vehicles need a steering angle or end-stop calibration after refitting. Where this applies, it is stated in the report.

Compatibility is confirmed by complete part number and hardware revision. A vehicle make or model alone does not confirm that a unit is supported. Send a label photo before ordering.
